Beginner’s Chinese

About the course

The Beginner’s Chinese course is designed for everyone willing to learn Chinese from scratch, and master the language with all four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

In addition to linguistic knowledge, participants will also be introduced to the culture and history of China developing intercultural communication skills. At the end of the course, the participants will acquire theoretical and practical knowledge levels for written and oral communication in Chinese. 

 

Learning objectives

By the end of the course, students will acquire the following skills:

  • Reading-Understanding: Students should be able to read and understand texts about people, their professions, and hobbies, as well as texts about weather and entertainment activities. Students should be able to answer true/false questions concerning the read texts.
  • Listening-Comprehension: Students should be able to listen and comprehend short information/statements and complete corresponding comprehension-checking tasks.
  • Speaking: Students should be able to make small talk and talk to people about their personality, profession, hobbies, and their living space. They should be able to speak about everyday situations and give directions for getting to a certain place.
  • Writing: Students should be able to write a short piece of text about themselves and write postcard messages, and notes.
